Learning Is Not About Technology
by TeachThought Staff
You have an expert Zoom or livestream into your classroom. Students discover a career they want to pursue.
It’s not about the technology. It is about the learning.
Your students are creating deep reflections in their blogs.
Your students are using iPads to research the location from a novel. The information is shared on digital sticky notes or a podcast.
It’s not about the technology. It is about the learning.
Your students are collaboratively creating a group project using Google Presentations focused on the digestive system.
Or maybe they are making short video book reviews and creating QR codes and pasting the codes in the books to share.
It’s not about the technology. It is about the learning.
You use pocket or Symbaloo to save and share favorite websites for quick and easy access.
Your students share their collaborative group Google Docs and receive instant feedback through comments.
It’s not about the technology. It is about the learning.
You have another teacher and her class video chat with your students and they eagerly locate information to determine the location of the other class.
Your students use Genius Hour to research a passionate pursuit of their own. Students share the information with the class using poster-boards, VoiceThreads, blogs, or videos.
It’s not about the technology. It is about the learning.
You use Twitter to learn things and stretch your thinking from some of the best education professionals in the world.
Your students use the class Edmodo groups to have impromptu homework or classroom discussions.
Your parents know the happenings in your classroom because you share through social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc…).
It’s not about the technology. It is about the learning.
When Is Learning About The Technology?
It is about the technology when you don’t use the technology because you don’t feel comfortable or knowledgeable.
It is about the technology if you don’t have the equipment available to you.
It is about the technology when the sites are blocked.
Don’t make it about the technology; make it about the learning.
